Cinco de Mayo (which is Spanish for the “fifth of May”) is a celebration held on the date in US and Mexico. The holiday itself is called El Día de la Batalla de Puebla, which in English translates to ‘The Day of the Battle of Puebla. Cinco de Mayo is observed to commemorate the Mexican army’s victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on the date in 1862 and serves as a source of pride and way to honour the culture.
Although this date holds great historical and cultural significance, it is also a great opportunity to embrace Mexican culture with some great Mexican food. I know this isn’t authentic Mexican but, lately I have been on a kick of fish tacos so I will seize this opportunity to list for you my Top 3 Places for Fish Tacos.
Top 3 Places for Fish Tacos
2. Magnum & Steins
If you’ve read my review on Magnum & Steins, you know how much I loved their version of the fish taco. Served on a Grilled Flour Tortilla, the Crispy Fried Cod was layered with Shaved Cabbage, Pico de Gallo and drizzled with Chipotle Lime Crema. $8 each. Check out their Facebook here.
I have yet to try these myself but due to the raving reviews I have heard about them, I had to include them on the list! Savvy is serving up unique and innovative versions of the classic taco, including this one with Blackened Tilapia, Mango Puree and Cucumber-Lime-Radish Salad. $4 each. Check out their Facebook here.
